

The expectation is that the event shows the recuperation rhythm of the world’s stone market
The Vitória Stone Fair 2010 happens at a moment in which the world’s economical rhythm is growing. And Brazil, which has shown to be one of the least affected by the global financial crisis, couldn’t be a better scenario for this then here. To be more precise, the state of Espirito Santo, where the main players of the dimensional stone segment will unite at the fair is considered one of the three most important of the world.
The Vitória Stone Fair 2010 will happen on February 23rd – 26th in the Carapina Expo Center (Serra, Espirito Santo – Brazil). The event will unite around 370 exhibitors from the main Brazilian states and countries such as Spain, Italy, Portugal, Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, India and China.
This edition of event will be a type of thermometer to evaluate the recovery of the dimensional stone global market, stated Cecilia Milanez Milaneze, organizer of the event. She emphasizes that the pre-registration of the participants is an important and positive indicator: “we already have various visitors from all over the world registered”.
The statistics done by the Brazilian Dimensional Stone Exportation Centre (Centrorochas) shows the retake of the market. After consecutive exportation drop periods, November and December where the recovery months. Exhibitors confirm that important global buyers, such as Canada, China and United States, began doing business again.
The Brazilian exportation grew 1,1% in November and 9,45% in December, in comparison with the corresponding months in 2008. In Espirito Santo the exportation recovery was even greater: there was an increase of 8,5% in November and 10,5% in December, this is also comparing to January and December of 2008 . It’s important to state that Espirito Santo concentrates the largest amount of the Brazilian dimensional stone exports: in 2009, it responded for 66% of the US$ 955 million exported by Brazil, according to the statistics done by Centrorochas.
The dimensional stone global market will also be the theme of one of the seminars in the Vitoria Stone Fair 2010. The subject will be spoken by the vice executive president of the Marble Institute of America (MIA), Gary Distelhorst, from The United States
The New Mining Regulation Mark of Brazil will also be discussed during the event. Already confirmed to be present is the Geology and Mineral Transformation of the Ministry of Minas and Energy Secretary, Claudio Scliar, and the Director of the National Mineral Production Department (DNPM), Miguel Cedraz Nery.
The President of the Sindicato da Indústria de Rochas, Cal e Calcário do Espírito Santo (Sindirochas), Emic Costa, stated that the Vitória Stone Fair is a great opportunity to get to know the necessities of the clients, and make interesting partnerships. “We are conscious that 2010 reserves positive expectancies for the Brazilin economy, which comes showing maturity and attracting the interest of international investors”, he observed.
STONE DIVERSITY – Being that it is already a tradition; the Vitória Stone Fair will display a rich diversity of Brazilian stones, especially exotic and classic granites. Brazil has more then one thousand types of granites and most of them can be seen during the fair. Exhibitors from producing states such as Espirito Santo, Ceara, Minas Gerais and Bahia will show the richness of their subsoil. The fair still reserves space for the Brazilian and other country’s Marbles.
The Slate also marcs it’s present at the event, with the participation of 19 companies that are integrated with the Slate Mining and Processing Association of Minas Gerais (Amar-MG). The Amar-MG represented producers from nine cities which forms the Slate Province, the variety available in the region are mainly for the external market. The participation of the Producers from the state of Minas Gerais is support by the Brazilian Service Support for the Micro and Small Companies (Sebrae-MG).
Still in the stone segment, another important participation is the quartzite producers from Pirenopolis (GO). The green, yellow, white and pink sheets are often used in for decorating floors, walls, and other civil construction applications. Pirenopolis is an import producing pole of quartzite and Sebrae-GO supports the participation of the producers in the Vitoria Stone Fair.
Besides the large diversity of the stones from the Brazilian soil, the Vitória Stone Fair has a strong presence of machinery, equipment and other service exhibitors.
MARBLE AND GRANITE ROUTE – During the fair, the visitors will be able to find packages to visit the companies and quarries in the Marble and granite Route, which includes the south and north regions of Espirito Santo. The south includes regions such as Cachoeiro de Itapermirim, which concentrates important industries and many fabrication shops and is where the Cachoeiro Stone Fair takes place in August. To the north of the state, the highlight is for the stone companies in the Nova Venécia region, an important granite producing pole.
ECONOMICAL IMPORTANCE – The dimensional stone sector has an important part in the Brazilian economy; it has a significant part in the exportations and job generating. Considering the internal and external sales, and the transaction involved with machines, equipments and other, the sector ultra passes US$ 2 billion of dollars a year.
Espírito Santo is highlighted in this scenario, being an important dimensional stone processing pole. The largest processing park and good part of the granite reservation of Brazil is installed here. The state responds for 50% of the Brazilian dimensional stone production and more then half of the exportation. The Vitoria Stone Fair contributes to the strength of the dimensional stone sector in Espirito Santo, in Brazil and the World.
