

The participation of International Exhibitors will be even stronger in the Vitória Stone Fair 2010, with the presence of nations that will be participating for the first time. In this case are Spain, Greece, India, Pakistan and Taiwan, that for the first time will participate in the event, besides these countries are the traditional countries such as Italy, Egypt, Turkey and Argentina, among others. The International Marble and Granite Fair will take place on February 23rd – 26th of 2010, in the Carapina Expo Center.
Besides the increase of exhibitors from other countries, the expectancy is that the Vitoria Stone Fair will receive a larger number of foreign visitors. In the past edition, realized in 2009, the fair received 22 thousand visitors from 66 different countries, in other word, there were representatives from 34% of world’s nation, a fact that transforms it into an important business event in the world calendar.
The president of the Stone, Calcareous and Chalk Industry Association from Espirito Santo (Sindirochas) and the Marble and Granite Technological Centre (Cetemag), Emic Costa, points out that the Vitoria Stone Fair is a great opportunity to meet the demands of clients and reinforce partnerships. “We are conscious that 2010 holds positive expectations for the Brazilian economy due to how the country is overcoming the global crisis, demonstrating maturity and attracting the attention of investors”, stated Costa.
The participation of the national stone exhibitors will also be present in the Vitória Stone Fair. Besides the traditional Brazilian granite, with their diversity in tones, the Vitoria Stone Fair will display other various types of stones. An example is the quartzite from the pole production region of Pirenópolis in Goias.
With the support from Sebrae, the producers of quartzite from Pirenópolis will display at the Vitoria Stone Fair diverse types of stone. The president of the Mining Association of Pirenópolis (Amip), João Leôncio Figueiredo Filho, said that the expectation of the participation in the Vitoria Stone Fair is positive, because fairs always represent business opportunities.
Minas Gerais, the second largest producer of Brazilian dimensional stone, will also be present in the Vitória Stone Fair displaying their slate production, with the support of Sebrae-MG. The manager of the Mining and Processing Slate Association (Amar-MG), José Maria Leal Junior, highlighted the demesne of the stone, which is appropriate in outdoor spaces with the function to absorb water. Amar-MG represents the products from nine cities which form the Slate Province of Minas Gerais, and will display at the Vitoria Stone Fair the varieties available in the region, as the main region for the external market.
The expectations in relation to the Vitória Stone Fair are positive. “What we noticed is that Brazil has attracted a great interest in the business world for being a promising market and the increase of the international participation proves this, and besides this, the diversity of stones transforms the country into the main supplies of prime material for the world”, stated the director of Milanez & Milaneze, Cecilia Milaneze.
Espírito Santo, where the event takes place, concentrates the largest amount of marble and granite quarries of Brazil and, from January through October of 2009, it responded for 66% of the countries dimensional stone exportations, as stated by the Brazilian Dimensional Stone Exportation Center (Centrorochas). In second position of the exportation ranking, Minas Gerais was with 22,4% of the exportations during the same period. With a slice of 49%, America continues to be the main destination of the Brazilian stone exportation, in second is China, with 11%.
