the sector will show more than 1000 varieties of stones

stones, their applicability and new machinery that have beem allowed the
suppliers to significantly increase the range of options and usage. Ornamental
stones are widely used as coatings because, besides their beauty and
refinement, they have a long life cycle, especially in environments with large
circulation of people and materials.
Brazil stands out for being the country with the
greatest diversity of ornamental stones in the world, besides having one of the
largest existing reserves. The characteristics of Brazilian nature form unique
coloring of stones, such as those with yellowish or dark green tones, typically
Types of ornamental stones
found in the country
The main stones that can be considered exclusively Brazilian - or at
least only exploited in Brazil - are the pegmatites ("feldspar") and
massive quartzites. They are very durable stones, for the degree of resistance
to chemicals and abrasion. Pegmatites have giant crystals of feldspar, quartz
and other minerals while quartzites have very thin quartz crystals and other
Brazil produces exotic
stones in large quantities, which are all those that differ completely from
traditional granite. Even the common or traditional granite or receive other
factors beyond geological, as climatic and
geomorphological, which assist in the formation of aesthetic standard. One
example is leaching of water in tropical and subtropical climates, which causes
most of the yellow granite (which are nothing more than a result of oxidation
of dark minerals containing iron and magnesium).
Aquarela, Bianco Torrone Desenhado, Carajás, Dalmata, Gold
Macaubas, Negresco, Splendor Gold, Sucuri, Terra Rossa, Via Láctea are some
examples of Brazilian exotic stones.
Among the exotic stones, there are also super exotic, such as Amarula,
Avatar, Comet, Green Bamboo, Iron Red, Mother of pearl, Moulin Rouge, Nova
Roma, River Storm, Santorini, Vitória Regia.
Market and exports trends
Currently, plates exports
are heavily geared towards the US market, including a good percentage of exotic
stones, precisely directed to countertops in the single family residential
market. Blocks exports are directed mainly to China, and preferably include
conventional materials, for large multifamily commercial and residential works.
The use of exotic materials such as quartzite, is a strong trend that
was consolidated in recent years in countries like the United States and
Canada. Brazilian quartzites that are booming are mainly the white ones.
Because they are natural and sophisticated materials and have a huge resistance
even with intensive use, quartzite is being widely applied in the homes of the
Americans. According to the luxury residential projects website of Sater Luxury
Design Collection, the marble has been used in baths and floors, for being
considered extremely elegant and easy to clean. Most of the Brazilian stones,
whether homogeneous / conventional or `bustling´ / exotic, will be exposed and may
be observed at Vitória Stone Fair.
